St David's Christmas Market

So I got a message that St David's Marist Inanda was having their Christmas Market last Saturday, and who can resist Christmas Markets!  Well, certainly not me!

It was a beautiful summer morning as we headed out, getting to the school early was the plan and on arrival we were pointed in the right direction by the friendly staff. What a wonderful market, loads of gifts to buy and food to eat, just the way we like it!

The field was dotted with numerous blue gazebos, fabulous music was coming from the main building on the field.  What a great atmosphere to stroll slowly through the stalls.

We came across these giant apples made by Gourmet Fruit Bouquets and on sampling a piece it was a must have.  The freshest Granny Smith Apples are first dipped in caramel and then in the best Belgian chocolate. Wow! What a taste sensation! Be warned though, they are huge and totally amazing!

So many things to buy from gingerbread men, ceramics, knives, preserves, and so much more.....here's some photos from the stalls.

The Shed on Route 59

Like all great secrets, some are meant to be shared, and the Saturday Market at The Shed on Route 59 is no exception. Travelling not too far outside the urban jungle on the R59 towards Vereeniging and just passed the Witkop Blockhouse  you will see The Shed on your right hand side.  Its a wonderful relaxing farm atmosphere with food and craft stalls, live music, waffles, fresh produce and a nursery....what more could you want!

Natalie and Andrew, from "The Mushroom Firm,"  have these fresh giant mushrooms the size of your palm and are most definitely the first stop, they sell out fast so get there quick!  The also run "The Cheese 'N Coppa" so get some cheese while you're there.  Hum.....mushrooms with cheese!

Next stop.....Donald's home brewing shop and pub (Tradeger Brewing Concepts) for a pint of craft beer on tap. Donald is passionate about brewing and knows everything you need to know to start up your own home brewing supply. He also sells wine and coffee and the best Boere Brood out there

We head on over to The Black Butterfly for some jams and preserves, all preservative free.  These are good, really good, yum!

Orange Peel Rolls

Orange

 Watermelon Preserve

Not to forget the woof, we pick up some biscuits from Proverbs 12:10 Doggie treats.

And lastly shop for fresh fruit and vegetables from Greens Farm Market.

There are a host of other stalls to see but sadly we have run out of time. So until next Saturday....

Garden Art

Raising the ordinary to extraordinary.

Our gardens should be our sanctuary, a calm, peaceful place that replenishes our souls. A time to relax and enjoy whatever summer brings our way.  What better way to inspire us than to introduce art into the garden. For all gardeners that love their gardens......
