Irene Village Market

Once in awhile we head out to the Irene Village Market, especially their Xmas markets.  By road for us, it takes about an hour to get there.  It's huge and dedicated to arts and crafts.  With different stalls selling art, crafts, clothing, flowers, food, antiques and many more.

It's situated on Smuts Hill just in front of the Smuts House Museum near the village of Irene on the Hennops River.  The setting is perfect and the layout of the stalls means that you don't miss any out as you make your way along the path under the shade of the trees.

There are still two more Xmas markets this year, on the 15th December (this coming Saturday) and the 17th (December Monday the public holiday). The market opens at 09h00 and closes at 14h00. Although it was already pumping at 08h30 when we arrived. It's a truly fabulous market and well worth visiting for adults and kids alike.

Just two tips for you....
1. If you're not fond of sitting in traffic, make sure you get there at 08h30. Anytime later and you will be slowly making your way to get into the parking.
2. Get to the egg stall first and purchase your eggs, they sell out fast.

The brown egg in the middle is a large egg from our local supermarket.
